The original curriculum for universities developed in 1990 as part of the Urban Ministry degree program.

In the fall of 2008, the City Vision College began offering study programs with training in Twelve Core Functions of the Substance Abuse Counselor. It is designed to prepare students to achieve Certified Addictions Counselor credential in the countries in which they are located.

Registration is open throughout the year in a certificate or degree completion program at the college. Students can pursue a Bachelor of Arts in Mission with emphasis urban services, Bachelor of Science in Nonprofit Management or Bachelor of Science in Addiction Studies.

Certificates are awarded to students who complete 30 hours of coursework in one of the areas of concentration but do not have enough credits transfer to a degree. The course can also be taken for personal enrichment and professional development.

Some programs in City Vision Colleges can be used to meet the educational requirements beginning CFRE credential for professionals fundraising and continuing education requirements. The college is also an Academic Approved Education Provider for NAADAC, the association for professional addiction.
